Record Number of Optical Industry Groups to Gather at Vision Expo West

Norwalk, CT (September 14, 2011) – Dozens of organizations are partnering with International Vision Expo West this year, helping to cement the show’s reputation asthe meeting place for the optical community. In one week, members from more than 25 vision industry groups will travel to Vision Expo West, held September 21-25 (Education: September 21-25, Exhibition: September 22-24) at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, to walk the exhibit hall, take continuing education courses and network at the 2011 show.

“We are pleased with the growth of participation from groups throughout the optical industry including State Optometric Associations, alliances and societies, buying groups, charities, franchises and media,” said Tom Loughran, vice president of Reed Exhibitions. “As the complete eyecare event, we’re proud to offer a central location for the vision community to come together to advance the industry. Co-locating at International Vision Expo West are the Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) Annual Meeting, which includes the Hall of Fame Banquet and 25th Anniversary Awards of Excellence reception, and the Vision Source Experience member meeting. Prevent Blindness America’s annual Swing for Sight golf tournament, Labapalooza, the National EYEPA Coalition’s Board Meeting, and various member events and lab buying group receptions will also take place surrounding the show.

Many groups have also elected to partner with International Vision Expo West this year, which allows their members and subscribers special offers at the show. These groups include the Alliance of Buying Groups, American Board of Opticianry (ABO)/ National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE), American Optometric Student Association (AOSA), C&E Buying Group, Doctors Eyecare Network, Emerging Vision, Inc., Eyecare Business, Independent Doctors of Optometric Care (IDOC), National Academy of Opticianry (NAO), National EYEPA Coalition, OD Excellence, The Optical Group (Canada), Optical Retail Business Alliance (ORBA), Optical Women’s Association (OWA), Professional Eye Care Associates of America and Vision Source.

In addition to partnering with the show, the Arizona Optometric Association (AZOA), the Nevada Optometric Association (NOA), Ophthalmology Times and Optometry Times have endorsed the International Vision Expo West continuing education program, which includes 388 hours of informative classroom instruction. The Ocular Nutrition Society, Ocular Surface Society of Optometry (OSSO), Optometric Council of Refractive Technology and Optometric Retina Society (ORS) are offering continuing education courses.
